Lake Manasarovar
Lake Manasarovar is a high-altitude freshwater lake located in Burang County, Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, China, at an elevation of 4,600m (15,100ft) near the western trijunction of China, India, and Nepal. The lake is sacred in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Bon religion, and people from India, China, Nepal, and other countries in the region undertake a pilgrimage to the region, which typically involves trekking to the lake and circumambulating nearby Mount Kailash. The lake is named after the Sanskrit words "Mānas" meaning "mind" and "sarovar" meaning "lake", and is also referred to as Mapam Yumtso and Tso Madröpa locally. The lake is located in a region with a fragile ecosystem and is vulnerable to the effects of global warming, population explosion, and tourism.learn more on wikipedia
