Kyushu Island

Kyushu is the third-largest island of Japan's four main islands, with a land area of 36,782 square kilometers and a population of 14,311,224 as of 2018. The island is mountainous, with Japan's most active volcano, Mount Aso, and numerous hot springs, particularly in Beppu and around Mt. Aso. Kyushu is separated from Honshu by the Kanmon Straits and is historically the gateway to Japan.
