Kursk Nuclear Power Plant
The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is one of the three biggest nuclear power plants in Russia and one of the four biggest electricity producers in the country, located on the bank of the Seym River in western Russia. It houses two active reactors and two decommissioned older units, as well as two new VVER-TOI designs currently under construction. The International Atomic Energy Agency's Director General Rafael Grossi urged Russia and Ukraine to exercise maximum restraint to avoid an accident at the plant during the 2024 Kursk Oblast incursion. The plant was built in the 1970s and is designed to supply the energy demands of the Kursk Magnetic Anomaly and surrounding regions. It has four RBMK-1000 reactors and is an important part of the Unified Power System of Russia, producing 52% of the total output of all electric power plants in the Chernozemye region.learn more on wikipedia
