Kosciuszko National Park
The Kosciuszko National Park is a 6,900-square-kilometre national park in southeastern New South Wales, containing mainland Australia's highest peak, Mount Kosciuszko, and the highest town, Cabramurra. The park is contiguous with the Alpine National Park in Victoria and Namadgi National Park in the Australian Capital Territory, and features a mix of rugged mountains and wilderness with an alpine climate. The park was added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2008 and contains a number of heritage-listed sites, including mountain huts and gold mining ruins. The park's higher regions experience an alpine climate, with the peak of Mount Kosciuszko subject to consistent heavy winter snow. The park has a long history of human habitation, with Aboriginal groups and European explorers visiting the area, and has been used for grazing, gold mining, and skiing.learn more on wikipedia
