Khmer Rouge

The Khmer Rouge was the name given to members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea that ruled Cambodia between 1975 and 1979, with leaders including Pol Pot, Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary, Son Sen, and Khieu Samphan. The regime was highly autocratic and totalitarian, resulting in the deaths of 1.5 to 2 million people, around 25% of Cambodia's population, due to forced evacuations, agricultural reform policies, and genocide of Cambodian minorities.
