Khalistan
The Khalistan movement is a separatist movement seeking to establish an ethno-religious sovereign state called Khalistan in the Punjab region. The movement began in the 1930s and gained momentum in the 1970s and 1980s, with some militant groups involved in an armed insurgency. The movement's goals varied, but some proposed boundaries included the Indian state of Punjab, Pakistani Punjab, and other parts of North India. Despite initial support, the movement failed to reach its objective due to heavy police crackdowns, factional infighting, and disillusionment from the Sikh population. Some support for the movement remains within India and the Sikh diaspora, with yearly demonstrations and ongoing arrests of militant groups.learn more on wikipedia
