Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action
The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as the Iran nuclear deal, is an agreement between Iran and the P5+1 countries (China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Germany) plus the European Union, reached in Vienna on July 14, 2015. The agreement imposed restrictions on Iran's nuclear facilities, including limiting uranium enrichment and reducing the number of gas centrifuges, in exchange for relief from nuclear-related sanctions. Iran agreed to eliminate its stockpile of medium-enriched uranium, cut its stockpile of low-enriched uranium by 98%, and reduce the number of gas centrifuges by about two-thirds for 13 years. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) was responsible for monitoring and verifying Iran's compliance with the agreement. The United States withdrew from the pact in 2018, imposing new sanctions and rendering the nuclear deal's economic provisions null.learn more on wikipedia
