Iraq War
The Iraq War was a prolonged conflict lasting from 2003 to 2011 that began with the US-led coalition invasion, resulting in the overthrow of Saddam Hussein's Ba'athist government. The conflict persisted as an insurgency arose against coalition forces and the newly established Iraqi government, with US forces officially withdrawn in 2011. The war was part of the Bush administration's broader war on terror, launched in response to the September 11 attacks, and was justified by claims of Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction and supporting al-Qaeda, which were later found to be false. The war led to an estimated 150,000 to over a million deaths, including more than 100,000 civilians, and had lasting geopolitical effects, contributing to the emergence of the 2013-2017 War in Iraq.learn more on wikipedia
