Iceberg A23a

A23a is a large tabular iceberg that calved from the Filchner–Ronne Ice Shelf in 1986 and has been moving since 2020. As of January 2025, it has an area of approximately 3,500 square kilometers, making it the world's largest iceberg, and has run aground off South Georgia island. The iceberg is expected to eventually break up into smaller icebergs after encountering warmer water, which could potentially disrupt local marine ecosystems and affect penguin and seal populations by blocking their access to feeding grounds.learn more on wikipedia
