Hvaldimir

Hvaldimir was a male beluga whale that was first spotted in April 2019 off the coast of Norway wearing a camera harness labeled "Equipment St. Petersburg". The whale was freed from the harness and remained in the area, appearing to be tame and interacting with humans. Speculation arose that the whale had been trained by Russia as a spy whale, leading to the nickname Hvaldimir, a portmanteau of Norwegian "hval" (whale) and "Vladimir" for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
