Himalayas
The Himalayas is a mountain range in Asia, spanning 2,400 km in length and occupying an area of 595,000 km2 across six countries. The range has several peaks exceeding 8,000 m in elevation, including Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth. The Himalayas are geologically young, formed over 10 million years ago due to the subduction of the Indian tectonic plate with the Eurasian Plate. The range is composed of uplifted sedimentary and metamorphic rocks and is still rising every year due to the continuous movement of the Indian plate. The Himalayas are home to some of the world's major rivers, including the Indus, Ganges, and Tsangpo-Brahmaputra, and have a significant impact on the climate of the Indian subcontinent, influencing the monsoons and shaping the cultures of South Asia and Tibet.learn more on wikipedia
