Hatzerim Air Force Base

Hatzerim Airbase is an Israeli Air Force base located in the Negev desert, 6 km west of Beersheba. It was constructed in the 1960s and declared operational on October 3, 1966. The base houses the IAF Flight Academy, the IAF Aerobatic Team, and the IAF Museum, and is home to operational fighter jets, as well as jet trainers and helicopters. The Flight Academy and Aerobatic Team have used various aircraft over the years, including the Fouga CM.170 Magister and the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II. The base has also been home to several squadrons, including the "Hammers" and "Knights Of The Orange Tail" Squadrons, which have flown various aircraft including the F-4E Phantom II and the F-15I Ra'am. In 2007, F-15Is from Hatzerim and F-16Is from Ramon Airbase participated in Operation Outside the Box, a covert attack on a nuclear reactor in Syria.
