HMNZS Manawanui
HMNZS Manawanui was a multi-role offshore support vessel that was commissioned into the Royal New Zealand Navy in 2019. The ship was originally a survey vessel for the oil and gas industry, known as MV Edda Fonn, which was built in 2003 and purchased by the RNZN in 2018 for $103 million to replace the hydrographic support ship HMNZS Resolution and the diving support vessel HMNZS Manawanui (A09). After conversion, the ship entered service in early 2020 and undertook multiple deployments in the Pacific, including participating in the RIMPAC exercise, removing World War II ordnance, and providing support after Cyclone Gabrielle. On 5 October 2024, the ship ran aground in Samoa while carrying out survey work, but all 75 crew members on board were successfully evacuated by life rafts and rescue boats.learn more on wikipedia
