Golden Temple

The Golden Temple, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is a gurdwara located in Amritsar, Punjab, India, and is the pre-eminent spiritual site of Sikhism. It was built by Guru Ram Das in 1577 and has been rebuilt several times due to destruction caused by Mughal and Afghan armies, with the current structure dating back to a 1809 reconstruction led by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
