French Revolution
The French Revolution was a period of political and societal change in France that lasted from 1789 to 1799, marked by the execution of King Louis XVI, the rise of the Committee of Public Safety and the Reign of Terror, and the eventual consolidation of power by Napoleon Bonaparte. The revolution was sparked by a combination of social, economic, and financial factors, including a growing population, economic recession, and a debt crisis, which ultimately led to the downfall of the ancien régime. The revolution was characterized by the Storming of the Bastille, the abolition of feudalism, and the declaration of rights, but also by the Reign of Terror, in which around 16,000 people were executed. The revolution ultimately ended with the coup of 18 Brumaire, in which Napoleon Bonaparte seized power and established the French Consulate.learn more on wikipedia
