French Quarter

The French Quarter is the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans and was originally known as the Vieux Carré. It was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville and developed around a central square. The neighborhood was heavily influenced by French and Spanish colonial architecture, with many buildings constructed in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
