French Connection

The French Connection was a large-scale heroin smuggling operation that began in the 1930s and continued until its dismantling in the 1970s. The operation involved Corsican gang leaders and was responsible for providing the vast majority of heroin used in the United States at the time. The operation originated in Indochina, where opium poppies were grown, and then transported through Turkey to Marseille, France, where the heroin was refined and shipped to the United States via New York City.
