Entente Cordiale
The Entente Cordiale was a series of agreements signed on April 8, 1904 between the United Kingdom and France, which significantly improved Anglo-French relations. The agreement was a result of a shift in British and French policy, with Britain abandoning its policy of "splendid isolation" and France seeking to regain its position on the European continent. The two countries had been isolated from each other due to the Franco-Prussian War and the Scramble for Africa, but the crisis caused by the Russo-Japanese War led them to set aside their differences and resolve their colonial disputes.
