Emmy Award
The Emmy Awards are a range of awards recognizing artistic and technical merit in the television industry, with various ceremonies held throughout the year in different categories. The two main events are the Primetime Emmy Awards and the Daytime Emmy Awards, which honor outstanding work in American primetime and daytime entertainment programming, respectively. The Emmy statuette, named after an informal term for the image orthicon tube, is one of four major annual American entertainment awards, along with the Grammy, Oscar, and Tony. Three related organizations, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, present the awards, with each responsible for administering a particular set of ceremonies. The first Emmy ceremony took place in 1949 to honor shows produced and aired locally in the Los Angeles area, and the awards later expanded to recognize other sectors of the TV industry.learn more on wikipedia
