Deep Space Network

The NASA Deep Space Network (DSN) is a worldwide network of spacecraft communication ground segment facilities located in the United States, Spain, and Australia, that supports NASA's interplanetary spacecraft missions, performs radio and radar astronomy observations, and supports selected Earth-orbiting missions. The DSN consists of three deep-space communications facilities strategically placed to permit constant observation of spacecraft as the Earth rotates, and provides a two-way communications link that guides and controls various NASA uncrewed interplanetary space probes. The DSN operates according to the standards of the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems and is able to inter-operate with the networks of other space agencies. The Deep Space Operations Center, located at the JPL facilities in Pasadena, California, communicates directly with the antennas at all three DSN Complexes and monitors and directs operations, oversees the quality of spacecraft telemetry and navigation data, and links the three complexes to the operations center at JPL, to space flight control centers, and to scientists around the world.learn more on wikipedia
