Danube Bridge

The Danube Bridge is a steel truss bridge over the Danube River connecting Bulgaria and Romania. It was opened on June 20, 1954, and is 2,223.52 meters long, with two decks, a two-lane motorway and a railway, as well as sidewalks for pedestrians. The central part of the bridge is mobile and can be lifted for oversized boats passage. It was constructed in two and a half years with the aid of the Soviet Union. The bridge serves as a border crossing between the two countries and has border control stations, but since January 2007, customs control has ceased and the passport/identity card control is done "on one desk" by either the Bulgarian or the Romanian border police.learn more on wikipedia
