Criminal Law Act 1977
The Criminal Law Act 1977 is an act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that applies primarily to England and Wales. It created the offense of conspiracy and introduced new provisions for criminal trespass, sentencing, and falsely reporting bomb threats. Part I of the act established the offense of conspiracy, while Part II created offenses related to entering and remaining on property, including the use of unauthorized violence to secure entry. This section has been used by squatters in England and Wales to prevent landlords from forcibly entering properties, provided the squatters are physically present and express opposition. Part III made changes to criminal procedure, sentencing, and penalties, while Part IV introduced miscellaneous provisions, including the abolition of certain road traffic offenses.learn more on wikipedia
