Coney Island

Coney Island is a neighborhood and entertainment area in Brooklyn, New York City, located on the Coney Island peninsula, which is bounded by Brighton Beach to its east, Lower New York Bay to the south and west, and Gravesend to its north. The area was originally a seaside resort and had amusement parks by the late 19th century, reaching its peak in the first half of the 20th century before declining in popularity after World War II. Coney Island has around 32,000 residents, with an ethnically diverse population and a poverty rate slightly higher than the city average.
