Colorado State Capitol
The Colorado State Capitol Building is a historic building located in Denver, Colorado, United States. It was designed by Elijah E. Myers and constructed in the 1890s from Colorado white granite, opening for use in November 1894. The building is intentionally reminiscent of the United States Capitol and features a distinctive gold dome made of real gold leaf added in 1908. The building is part of the Denver's Civic Center area and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Civic Center Historic District in 1974. It was renovated between 2001 and 2009 to add modern safety features while preserving the original architecture. The building is made of various types of stone, including Colorado white granite, Colorado Rose Onyx, and White Yule Marble, and features stained glass windows depicting historical events and portraits of every U.S. president.learn more on wikipedia
