Château De Versailles
The Palace of Versailles is a former royal residence located in Versailles, France, about 18 kilometers west of Paris. It was commissioned by King Louis XIV in the 17th century and expanded into a palace that went through several phases of construction between 1661 and 1715. The palace served as the de facto capital of France from 1682 to 1789, before being abandoned and largely emptied during the French Revolution. Following Napoleon's coronation, the palace was used as a summer residence, and after the Bourbon Restoration, it underwent significant repairs in the 1830s and was converted into a museum of French history. Today, the palace and park are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world, with over 15 million visitors annually.learn more on wikipedia
