Celtic
The Celts were a collection of Indo-European peoples identified by their use of Celtic languages and cultural similarities, with major groups including Gauls, Celtiberians, Britons, and others. The interrelationships of ethnicity, language, and culture in the Celtic world are unclear and debated, with "Celt" now primarily referring to "speakers of Celtic languages" rather than a single ethnic group. The origins and history of the Celts are debated, with theories including the "Celtic from the East" theory, which proposes a spread of Celtic culture from central Europe, and the "Celtic from the West" theory, which suggests a spread from the Atlantic Bronze Age coastal zone. The earliest undisputed examples of Celtic language are the Lepontic inscriptions from the 6th century BC, and written evidence of early Celts comes from Greco-Roman writers. The Celts were often in conflict with the Romans, and by the 1st century AD, most Celtic territories had become part of the Roman Empire. After the Roman Empire declined, Celtic culture was mostly restricted to Ireland, western and northern Britain, and Brittany, where it diversified into the cultures of the Gaels and the Celtic Britons.learn more on wikipedia
