Buchenwald

Buchenwald was a German Nazi concentration camp established in July 1937 on Ettersberg hill near Weimar, Germany. The camp was one of the first and largest within the Altreich territories, and held over 280,000 prisoners, including Jews, Poles, Slavs, mentally ill, physically disabled, political prisoners, and others, who were subjected to forced labor and poor conditions, resulting in 56,545 deaths. After the camp's liberation by the US Army in April 1945, it was used by the Soviet occupation authorities as an internment camp until 1950, and today it serves as a memorial and permanent exhibition and museum.learn more on wikipedia
