British Academy Film Awards
The British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA, is an annual award show held by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts to recognize outstanding contributions to film. The first ceremony was held in 1949 and was initially broadcast on the BBC in 1956 with Vivien Leigh as host. The ceremony has taken place in various locations, including the Royal Albert Hall, before moving to the Royal Festival Hall in 2023. The awards are presented in the form of a theatrical mask and are supported by a membership of about 6,000 people from the film, television, and video game industries. The ceremony includes a tribute to industry members who have died over the past year and has been broadcast on British television and BBC America.learn more on wikipedia
