Bridgegate
The Fort Lee lane closure scandal, also known as Bridgegate, was a political scandal in New Jersey in 2013 and 2014, involving the closing of toll lanes at the George Washington Bridge by staff and appointees of then-governor Chris Christie to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The lane closures, which occurred on September 9, 2013, resulted in a massive traffic problem, and were reportedly done as a retributive attack against Mayor of Fort Lee Mark Sokolich, a Democrat who had not supported Christie's re-election bid. An investigation led to a nine-count indictment against several of Christie's appointees and staff, including Bridget Anne Kelly, Bill Baroni, and David Wildstein, and resulted in the guilty plea of Wildstein and the conviction of Kelly and Baroni.learn more on wikipedia
