Bridgegate

The Fort Lee lane closure scandal, also known as Bridgegate, was a political scandal in New Jersey in 2013 and 2014, involving the closing of toll lanes at the George Washington Bridge by staff and appointees of then-governor Chris Christie to create traffic jams in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The lane closures, which occurred on September 9, 2013, resulted in a massive traffic problem, and were reportedly done as a retributive attack against Mayor of Fort Lee Mark Sokolich, a Democrat who had not supported Christie's re-election bid.
