Bribie Island
Bribie Island is a 34 km long sand island located off the coast of Queensland, Australia, sheltering the northern part of Moreton Bay. It is separated from the mainland by Pumicestone Passage and has a total area of 55.8 square kilometres, with a small portion of the island being urbanised and the rest being national park and forestry plantations. The island's southern end is home to four major suburbs: Bongaree, Woorim, Bellara, and Banksia Beach, with a bridge connecting them to the mainland since 1963. The island is also home to numerous species of wildlife, including kangaroos, wallabies, emus, and birds such as honeyeaters and flying foxes. In 2022, the ocean broke through a narrow spit of the island, creating a new passage that is expected to have significant effects on the local environment and residents.learn more on wikipedia
