Blue Ridge Mountains

The Blue Ridge Mountains are a 550-mile-long physiographic province of the Appalachian Highlands range, extending from southern Pennsylvania to Georgia. The province consists of northern and southern regions, with the Blue Ridge Parkway running along the crest-lines of the southern Appalachians. The mountains are known for their bluish color, caused by the release of isoprene from trees into the atmosphere.
