BlackBerry is a discontinued brand of smartphones and other related mobile services and devices that was originally developed and maintained by BlackBerry Limited from 1999 to 2016. At its peak in 2011, there were 85 million BlackBerry subscribers worldwide, but the brand lost its dominant position due to the success of Android and iOS platforms, with numbers falling to 23 million in 2016.
