Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range in North Africa, stretching approximately 2,500 km through Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia. They separate the Sahara Desert from the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, and their highest peak, Toubkal, reaches an elevation of 4,167 meters. The range is primarily inhabited by Berber populations and is home to a number of endangered and extinct species. The Atlas Mountains are considered a trekkers' den, attracting adventurers year-round. The range's geology is complex, with three phases of formation: the Anti-Atlas, formed during the Paleozoic Era, the High Atlas, formed during the Mesozoic Era, and the Middle Atlas, formed during the Paleogene and Neogene Periods. The Atlas are rich in natural resources, including iron ore, lead ore, copper, and natural gas.learn more on wikipedia
