Ataturk Bridge

The Atatürk Bridge, initially named Hayratiye Bridge, was commissioned by Sultan Mahmud II and completed in 1836. It was replaced by a second iron bridge in 1875, which stood until 1912. The third bridge on the site was disassembled from the nearby Third Galata Bridge and reassembled in 1912, but was damaged by a storm in 1936. The current Atatürk Bridge, 477 meters long and 25 meters wide, was constructed between 1936 and 1940.
