Arugam Bay

Arugam Bay is a coastal town in Sri Lanka's southeast coast, located 117 kilometers south of Batticaloa and 320 kilometers east of Colombo. The town has a predominantly Muslim population, with significant Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhala populations, as well as international expatriates. The local economy has traditionally been driven by fishing, but tourism has grown rapidly in recent years, particularly surf tourism, which is now a major industry in the area.
