Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights
Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights provides a right to respect for one's "private and family life, his home and his correspondence", subject to certain restrictions that are "in accordance with law" and "necessary in a democratic society". The notion of "family life" is not limited to married couples and may encompass de facto relationships. Article 8 also protects the concept of "home", which includes professional or business premises. The interpretation of "private life" is broad, encompassing the right to establish and develop relationships with other human beings. The Court has also given a positive interpretation of Article 8, requiring States to take action to ensure the effective enjoyment of rights, such as enforcing access for a divorced father to his child.learn more on wikipedia
