The 1948 Arab-Israeli War, also known as the First Arab-Israeli War, began on May 14, 1948, after the Israeli Declaration of Independence and the entry of Arab states into Mandatory Palestine. The war ended on July 20, 1949, with the 1949 Armistice Agreements, establishing the Green Line.
