Antonov An-12
The Antonov An-12 is a four-engined turboprop transport aircraft designed in the Soviet Union, with a military version of the Antonov An-10 passenger transport. Developed from the Antonov An-8, the An-12 entered Soviet military service in 1959 and was produced in large numbers, with a total of 1,248 aircraft built. The aircraft has capacity for up to 100 fully equipped paratroopers or 20,000 kg of cargo, and has been used in a variety of roles, including search and rescue operations and equipment transportation. In addition to its basic cargo transport role, the An-12 was adapted as a platform for a wide variety of specialist tasks, with over 30 different variants produced.
