Andoya Spaceport
Andøya Space is a rocket launch site, rocket range, and spaceport on Andøya island in Norway, established in 1962 as the Andøya Rocket Range. Over 1,200 sounding and sub-orbital rockets have been launched from the site, operated by the civilian company Andøya Space, which is majority-owned by the Norwegian government. The facility has supported missions from ESA, NASA, JAXA, and DLR, and has also provided operations for scientific research. Andøya Space has a long history of successful launches, including the first Norwegian rocket, Ferdinand 1, which launched in 1962. The site has also been used for sounding rocket launches in the polar cusp, and has supported the establishment of a lidar observatory and a VHF-radar. In 2014, the facility changed its name from Andøya Rocket Range to Andøya Space to reflect an increased focus on activities beyond rocketry.learn more on wikipedia
