Andaman Islands
The Andaman Islands are an archipelago of 200 islands in the northeastern Indian Ocean, consisting of the Union Territory of India's Andaman and Nicobar Islands and the Coco Islands and Preparis Island of Myanmar. The islands are home to the Andamanese, a group of indigenous people, including the Jarawa and Sentinelese tribes. The Sentinelese are known to be hostile to visitors, and their right to privacy is protected by the Indian government. The islands have a rich history, with archaeological evidence showing human habitation dating back to the 1st millennium BC. The Chola empire took control of the islands in the 11th century, using them as a strategic naval base, and later the British colonial era saw the establishment of a penal colony on Chatham Island.learn more on wikipedia
