America the Beautiful

Katharine Lee Bates wrote the lyrics to "America the Beautiful" as a poem in 1895, inspired by her trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado, while Samuel A. Ward composed the melody in 1882 for a hymn titled "Materna". The two were combined in 1910 and titled "America the Beautiful", which has become one of the most popular American patriotic songs.
