Alexandra Palace
Alexandra Palace is an entertainment and sports venue in North London, built on the site of Tottenham Wood and Tottenham Wood Farm. It was originally built by John Johnson and Alfred Meeson in 1873, but was rebuilt after a fire two weeks after its opening. The palace was intended as a public centre of recreation, education, and entertainment, and was acquired by local authorities in 1900 who maintained it for public use. In 1935, the BBC leased part of the palace for use as a television production and transmission centre, and in 1936, it became the home of the BBC's first regular public television service. The palace continues to be used by the BBC and is also used for exhibitions, music concerts, and conferences, and is a Grade II listed building.learn more on wikipedia
