The Airbus A380 is a very large wide-body airliner produced by Airbus until 2021, with a typical seating for 525 passengers and a maximum certified capacity for 853 passengers. It is powered by Engine Alliance GP7200 or Rolls-Royce Trent 900 turbofans and has a range of 8,000 nmi. As of December 2021, the global A380 fleet had completed over 800,000 flights with no fatalities and no hull losses. The development of the A380 started in 1988, with the first prototype unveiled in 2005 and first delivery to Singapore Airlines in 2007, with the estimated $25 billion development cost not recouped by the time production ended in 2021.
