A340

The Airbus A340 is a long-range, wide-body passenger airliner developed and produced by Airbus. It was launched in 1987 and entered service in 1993 with launch customers Lufthansa and Air France. The A340-300 and A340-200 were the initial versions, followed by the larger A340-500/600, which were launched in 1997 and entered service in 2002. The A340 has a similar airframe to the A330 but with four engines instead of two, and a heavier maximum takeoff weight. The aircraft has a range of 12,400-16,670 km and can seat 210-370 passengers. Production of the A340 ended in 2011, with 377 aircraft delivered, and it has been replaced by the A350.
