Worldwide Overweight and Obesity Rates Projected to Exceed Half of Adults by 2050, Study Warns

A staggering increase in the number of adults and children worldwide who are overweight or obese is projected for the year 2050. According to various studies, the numbers are expected to reach alarming levels unless governments take immediate action. It is estimated that more than half of adults, approximately 60 percent, and a third of children and young people will be overweight or obese by 2050. This represents a significant rise from the current numbers, with 2.6 billion people already affected worldwide as of 2021, up from 929 million in 1990.
