Wildfires in Greece claim first fatality and destroy land and homes in Athens suburbs

A massive wildfire has been burning in the Attica region of Greece since Sunday, with the blaze spreading to the north of Athens and forcing the evacuation of several small towns. The fire has been particularly intense, with firefighters battling to contain it. As of Tuesday, one fatality has been reported, a woman found dead in a burned-out factory. Despite the efforts of hundreds of firefighters, the blaze continued to burn on the outskirts of Athens, with smoke and ash choking the city. Volunteers in the area are also working to extinguish the fires. The fire is considered Greece's worst wildfire of the year.
