However, there seems to be some discrepancy regarding the confirmation of Issa's death, with some reports coming from US officials and others from the Israeli military but not both confirming it prior to this statement. Issa was a deputy of Mohammed Deif, who heads the armed wing of Hamas. Sullivan also emphasized that a military plan alone cannot succeed without an integrated humanitarian and political plan.
