Wales swears in Vaughan Gething as first minister, making history as Europe's first Black leader

Vaughan Gething has been announced as the winner of the Welsh Labour Party leadership contest on March 16, 2024. He will succeed Mark Drakeford as the health and economy minister of Wales and is expected to be sworn in as the first black leader of the semi-autonomous government in Wales on Wednesday. Gething defeated his only rival, Jeremy Miles, in the election.
