Voyager 1 sends engineering updates to Earth after 5-month hiatus
Voyager 1, which is approximately 15 billion miles (24 billion kilometers) away from Earth, has recently started transmitting usable data about its engineering systems to NASA after a communication problem was resolved. The issue occurred in November 2023 when the spacecraft's telemetry modulation unit began sending indecipherable binary code. Despite being 46 years old, Voyager 1 has shown signs of aging in recent years and this is not the first challenge it has faced.
