Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says country is close to the end of the war with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that his country is nearing the end of the war with Russia, which began in February 2022 as a "special operation" according to Moscow. Zelenskyy has urged continued support from Washington and other partners, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the Ukrainian army. He plans to present a "victory plan" to the White House during a visit to Washington, aiming to influence policy and secure further cooperation between Ukraine and the US. Notably, Zelenskyy has also highlighted Ukraine's recent military successes, including the Kursk operation, which has resulted in the capture of over 1,000 square kilometers of Russian territory, suggesting that Putin may be "afraid" of Ukraine's advances.
